I've been hard at work on Cassie's wedding dress...and as her wedding is this Saturday, I thought it'd be safe to post some more "in progress" photos, as her future husband will be seeing the finished product in just a few days.
There were a few more bodice fittings, but those pictures are pretty boring, so here are some pictures of the lace being appliqued to the bodice. A bodice can be made out of solid lace fabric, but appliqueing the lace on this way hides all the seams and makes for a gorgeous finished look.

Just the middle section completed. Placing all the pieces of lace is kind of like putting together a jigsaw puzzle. I pin down a small section and sew it in place before moving on. I make sure to keep in mind important areas like the scalloped neckline while placing the lace.
I use a free-motion zig-zag stitch and invisible thread to stitch down all the lace. I'm careful to avoid all the beads and pearls! Thankfully, my new sewing machine has some great settings, sensors, and features to make this process easier. It's still time-consuming, but nearly as bad as doing it by hand, and I know all my stitches are nice and secure.
The lace on the bodice, nearly complete.
One of the final bodice fittings before the skirt was attached and the zipper sewn in. Isn't it gorgeous!?
